Welcome to Bossy’s Ear Worm, which features songs currently in Bossy’s headphones. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
Miley Cyrus, Party in the U.S.A..
Bossy’s daughter first brought this song to Bossy’s attention this past summer when Bossy’s daughter couldn’t stop singing it every minute of every day and sister mercy, for weeks that bled into the month of August, the constant soundtrack in Bossy’s house was Bossy’s daughter belting, “Yeah-ee-aaa-eee-aaa-eeeaaaa, it’s a party in the Youuu Esss Ayyy”
The funny part of the story is that Bossy never really heard the song since Bossy’s daughter was always in her headphones. Until recently, that is, and now Bossy is all, “I’m nodding my head like Yeah, moving my hips like Yeah…”
This is a great pop tune, front to back and sideways. So put your hands up, they’re playing your song… In lieu of a link to buy the tune, here’s her charming video. Nice boots, baby.
That song just STAYS in your head, doesn’t it? I’ve been noddin’ my head like YEAH all damned week.
😉
never too old!….thats adorable, catchy, fresh and very american…..
You just had to post this one today when I haven’t been able to get this song out of my head for a week 😉 My husband made up his own version about flying into DTW and party in Ypsi! my 8 year old just rolls her eyes at him.
BOSSY! I can’t even tell you how I am on the BIGGEST secret “Party in the USA” kick right now. It’s the biggest because I absolutely cannot listen to this song without turning the volume all the way up and screaming along while I shake my butt. And every time I get in the car I immediately flip through every station that has the possibility of playing it, and get really bummed if it’s not on because I just want to hear it all.the.time. And secret because when this song came out, like, six months ago, I wanted nothing to do without because I was all “Miley Cyrus PSSHAAWW” and I somehow managed to completely avoid it. And then I accidentally heard it on the radio last week and was all “THIS SONG ROCKS!” And now everyone else in the world is all, “that song is so six months ago” but you know what people? It’s new to me.
As my husband and I say, (quoting Bjork from a Rolling Stone article that ran ages ago), “That’s not a guilty pleasure, that’s just a good tune.”
This is my closet confession…I heart this song in a Cyndi Lauper Girls Just Wanna Have Fun manner. My 7-year-old and 4-year-old daughters love it and I crank it in the car sometimes…WHEN I AM ALONE.
It beats the Taylor Swift song, especially after I saw her perform live on SNL this weekend.
i like this video version better than miley’s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmKnQjBf8wM
the expressions on that guy are just priceless.
Looove the ASL version. Thx aadrw for the link!
Miley Cyrus is a very cute girl. And I too am now coveting her red cowboy boots.
Thanks for that ASL version; what a doll. Bossy will never see hips move in quite the same way again.
Add me to the list who LOVE THIS SONG! My 10 year old daughter is “so over” Miley Cyrus and rolls her eyes at me when I crank this song. It really is catchy and I like it too in a “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”.
On a related note, I was at a dinner party Saturday with 3 other couples my age and we got talking about Meatloaf, the singer not the meal, and all the moms and I started signing every song on the Bat Out of Hell album/CD. “Let me sleep on it….baby baby let me sleep on it….Let me sleep on it…I’ll give you an answer in the morning! I GOTTA KNOW RIGHT NOW DO YOU LOVE ME? WILL YOU LOVE YOU FOREVER DO YA NEED ME?!”
The eye rolls then came from all our husbands. Meatloaf needs a musical comeback!
I confess that I have Miley’s “The Climb” on my ipod. The sitter makes fun of me & I don’t care. In fact, I’m pretty sure I scream it out loud when I’m out on my walk. Stay out of my way.
You are not.
First of all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsoYTyJSttA
Second of all: that girl needs to turn 18 so I can stop feeling wrong
I’ve been rocking out to this song too and just recently found out it’s by Miley…and I still like it. There’s just no denying it’s a good tune!
