Welcome to Bossy’s Ear Worm, which features songs currently in Bossy’s headphones. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
The Verve, Bittersweet Symphony.
Bossy is not featuring this 1997 song, by English band The Verve, because she particularly admires it. Nor is she featuring it because it was taken from a sample of a Rolling Stone’s tune — and certainly the song has Keith Richards and Mick Jagger’s fingerprints all over it.
No, Bossy is featuring it for one reason only — because whenever she hears this song on the radio, as she did yesterday, she can only laugh and think one thing: isn’t this the unwritten Sonny and Cher tune?
Listen, people, listen. It’s a Sonny Bono tune! And, you know, that Cher.
Tap tap tap hello? Does anyone remember Sonny and Cher?

February 2, 2010 at 3:13 pmMy father once asked me who I admired most (I think I was about 11 or so…wait, 1958 from 1971 is 13… so I was 13) and I said Cher. He was NOT happy with me, but you know what, I still admire her. She turned out to be pretty cool.
