In 1993, Bossy and her brother and her son and her mother found themselves in a minivan on their way to Florida to visit friends and family:
At the time, everyone in that minivan was preparing for a major change. Bossy had recently decided to live somewhere other than the city and was fretting her next move. Bossy’s son would soon leave his old school and friends and move where he had neither. Bossy’s brother was about to travel with a band for an extended stay in Japan, where he would meet his eventual wife. And Bossy’s mom was in her own post-divorce flux and feeling the crossroads of her collective offspring.
Bossy and her brother and her son and her mother passed their thirty-four collective hours in the car giggling, plotting their next pulled pork sandwich, and, mostly, listening to Deepak Chopra.
Deepak Chopra is a doctor, spiritual guide, and motivational speaker spiritual doctor guide. At the time, he had just released a series of audio cassettes because Gah had not yet invented technology. And this series of audio cassettes was called Journey Into Healing: Awakening the Wisdom Within You, but you can call it Journey Into Healing: Awakening the Wisdom Within You for short.
And there in that sound booth dressed as a Mazda Minivan, Bossy and her brother and her son and her mother discovered that the way they think and feel and behave alters their biology.
Right there on the ribbon of those antiquated magnetic tapes, Deep Dark Chocolate Deepak Chopra professed that the concept of aging isn’t a given; through meditation, a sturdy belief system, and simple exercises, one can keep oneself youthful.
Fast forward nearly twenty years when Bossy is a muckle of frizz in the midst of a divorce, and Bossy’s friend Deepak Chopra thought Bossy might benefit from receiving and reviewing a copy of Deepak Chopra’s Leela, a collaboration with THQ.
That’s right, there’s a meditation video game. At first, Bossy thought it was a strange pairing of concepts: stress-relief and video game. And Bossy doubted her ability to become one with the universe when the desk inches from her enlightened fingertips was piled with last year’s paperwork, and the extra blankets were forming Mount Fuji in the corner of the family room:
But before long, thanks to the measured timbre of Deepak’s wise voice, Bossy was getting into it:
Leela is split into two parts. Play invites users to connect with their chakras through gentle movements, performing such tasks as grabbing circles of energy and riding those currents up to the sky, which is hippy for You collect energy by twisting your upper body to the left and right to move light bubbles to the top of the screen:
The second part of Leela is Reflect, which is guided or independent meditation allowing you to focus on breathing and turning your attention within.
In conclusion, Bossy would prefer to meditate in a breezy light-filled artist’s loft one block from Laguna Beach. But since this isn’t Bossy’s lot in life, at least Leela encourages its participants to carve a part out of each day to slow down the crazy and focus on the mind and body.
And who exactly can’t benefit from that?
This is where you come into it.
Bossy’s friends at her ad network and Deepak Chopra are partnering to give away one Wii console and one copy of Leela to one lucky Bossy reader! All you have to do to be entered for a chance to win is comment below, answering the question, How do you currently relieve stress?

I relax by reading and, lately, playing around on my ipad.
hot fresh baked choclate chip cookies and ice cold milk worked really well for a long time…now I’m stressed over my weight! So now I like to watch my 7 cats play and my 2 horses graze and try not to stress over all the fences that need mending…..I think I could use this game…
Sex. Lots of it. And potatoes. But totally not at the same time. Because that would be EW.
Generally, it’s a combination of alcohol and Netflix. And sometimes it’s cooking while listening to songs.

Relax? I don’t think I have a clue what that is most of the time. I do however relax when I’m on our houseboat on a nice sandy beach in the summer. A good book and cocktail in hand of course!!!! AHHHHHHH!
I usually hold everything in and keep on truckin along until I either get drunk or someone says the wrong thing at the wrong time and I unload on everyone around me. But in a joking funny way, you know, at my own expense.
I tweeted about the give-a-way!
https://twitter.com/#!/JynnLynn
Wine is my drug of choice for relaxing, but reading helps too. I tried meditation, but it made me nervous to just sit there.
How do I currently relieve stress? I don’t. Or… well… I drink. But the dr. says a glass of red wine a day is good for me. I just haven’t shown him the glass I use.
Bone-tired Bossy is just as beautiful as all the other incarnations of Bossy.
A shot of tequila or a bottle of wine. Whichever is handy.
ps. how does someone age 18 years and get better looking?
Strenuous physical activity. Nothing like it. Also, lots of deep breathing.
I laugh at Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show after working second shift. Guaranteed stress reliever!
Running — and let me be clear, I’m not a runner. I also find the act of cooking relieves my stress a bit.
This relax word you speak of, what is that?!?! 🙂
I make sure to spend 30 minutes reading at night before I go to sleep…that or drink heavily.
Have a great Friday!
Snuggling with our grands is the best stress reliever I’ve found! Since they live a couple thousand miles away, I sure could use this in between visits though!!!
Walking and breathing. 2 – 4 miles per day. I still need this game though. Want. Need. *sigh*
–>Closing my eyes, taking a deep breath and picturing myself walking on the beach. If that doesn’t help, I drive the short three miles to the actual beach and try it again.
I relax by dragging myself out of bed at 5:00 am for bootcamp. Because when I start my day off with exercise I always feel better. Chocolate doesn’t hurt of course either.
I eat some cheese. I hassle my bird. I listen to Cake or Morphine or U2 or Led Zeppelin REALLY LOUD on my iPod. I try to sleep it away. I READ THIS BLOG!!!
I.Drink.Heavily.
I go into my sewing room and lose myself amongst the stacks of pretty fabrics to make quilts. I LOVE pulling out fabric, selecting which ones go together and make beautiful music on my design wall. My mind complete switches gears and goes to a place without crazy bosses, fussy husbands, chubby VISA bills or barfy cats.
(Wine helps here too, but that usually means I need to reconsider my color choices in the harsh light of the next day.)
I relax by taking xanax, but I would like to give Deep dark Chocolate a try!!!!!!!!
I relax by eating yummy cheese or chocolate. Which, as the pounds pile on, adds to original stress. Which I then relieve by bouncing around youtube and looking a cute puppy or British Invasion band videos. Leela sounds less time-consuming and caloric, so thanks for chance to win.
mike’s hard limeade, very cold and only after 4 pm
(isn’t this a ten-word tuesday entry too?)
Quiet. Glorious, peaceful quiet.
I read Eckhart Tolle or Miguel Ruiz. Sometimes I take a bath, others I just hide in the bathroom from the three kids. I’ve heard a lot about, but never read, Deepak Chopra, and since I’ve just given up sugar (and therefore my real deep dark chocolate) I could use something like this more than ever!
Currently working on new ways to relieve stress that do not involve things that are bad for you…Would sure LOVE some help from Deep Dark Chocolate! And I love the image of those three generations of Bossy’s family in that traveling sound booth getting their good energy on together.
Here’s my Tweet about the giveaway FTW!

Before my surgery I relieved stress by eating. Since gastric bypass surgery stress eating is not an option so I take the other way out and exercise. Usually walking on the treadmill will take away my worries.
^ Linda Stewardt Me too! I also walk and took up crocheting again and I also uhmmm do the Mmmmmm thing if you know what I mean
I play Mah Jongg online. Oh wait, that leaves me feeling more stressed! Glass of wine and a movie I’ve seen 20 times before helps. Also, have some beautiful meditations written by my Mom that brought me back from the edge of sanity.
I hide from everybody and let my brain wander.
Yoga. Reading (i.e. escaping into another world where I can think about someone else’s problems for a change).
paddling the river, laughing with friends and a little wine.
Running. Except now running may be causing back/neck issues which = sleeping isn’t happening so there goes stress relief. Argh
I have found that I stress out and have insomnia if I go to bed too early. So, even if I’m exhausted at 9 pm when I finally get my daughter to go to bed, I read in bed til about 11 or 11:30, then fall asleep. Usually that lets me sleep through the night.
The old fashioned way – I “do it” with my husband 🙂
Very hot yoga.
I hang out with 7th graders all day. Which allows me to immediatley relax when they are gone. I defy anyone to find stress relief more quickly.
I have a daily yoga practice, cook, read and take a lot of baths. ; )
Thanks Bossy!
Fave stress relief: thrift store shopping. What I wish I did more of: exercise.
does it reflect poorly on me if I say I use alcohol to de-stress? It probably does, doesn’t it?
halloween candy, wine (strong red),and Frazier episodes on netflix….. not sure what I’ll do when candy runs out….
Have a glass wine!
Surfing the net, reading BOSSY and a few other blogs, and playing with the dog A LOT!
booze, whiskey to be exact, and lots of bad reality TV.
smile and breathe….
chocolate, gin and tonics, laying around in my sweats watching 30 Rock on netflix until I’m ready to throw up.
I suspect this is not the healthiest way to handle the stress.
Reading or a hot bath… preferably both!!
Watching TV, preferably something funny, usually does the trick for me. Sometimes you just need to laugh or at least divert your mind for a little while.
My first impulse was to say gin and tonic, but that’s only when it’s warm out, which it is not right now or for the foreseeable future. So plan b involves hot chocolate, streaming old movies on the iPad, and when the guilt builds up, swimming laps.
My current stress relief is to zone out in front of the TV as much as possible when a 2 year old is clamoring for my attention before his bedtime. It doesn’t always work.
I currently relieve stress by sleeping it away. I need to relieve stress by working out!
Since I’m currently pregnant, most of my preferred stress relieving methods are frowned upon… drinking a bit with friends; long, hard workouts…
So, honestly? I sleep and if I’m really stressed, I take my 3-year old for a very long walk through the neighborhood. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll make a cup of hot chocolate. (Shh! Don’t tell me that contains caffeine!)
i squeeze a stress ball and breath deeply and eat chocolate
I go out to the garden. No one else wants to bother me there (they might be asked to help out) and I love the work and the peace. And there are rewards.
Take the dog for a walk. Or a drag. Or be dragged by the dog. Anyway it involves the dog, a leash and tennis shoes.
Just reading this post caused Olivia enormous stress because she was all “WTF is Bossy talking about?” By the time Olivia read to the end of the comments she figured it had something to do with wine and since Olivia lives in Canada and is therefore not eligible to enter any contests anywhere and because she figures any suggestions she makes have to be legal she also goes with “wine”.
Amen.
Deep dark Chocolate! lol!
So relaxing. Hrm. Well, I’d say I unwind with the laptop on my lap and some yummy drink next to me. All the kids are in bed. The room is dark.
right now i relieve stress through sleeping, smoking, and eating way too much pumpkin roll. or pie. or whatever is available.
It would seem Halloween candy… I have been strong for 10 days and now it calls me. The problem is the more I eat the more stressed I become. Then, a new day dawns and the cycle starts again! Help Deep Dark Chocolate!
Video games – sad but true
Yeah typically my stress relief is not super healthy – eating…and then playing bejeweled… yeah…
I make cookies. Currently there is dough formed and ready to bake for more than 4,000 cookies in my freezer (Christmas is coming). I was greatly stressed over the lack of room in the freezer so I bought a new bigger one.
I sniff on my kids’ hair. Or flop in front of Project Runway and ignore the rest of the house. Meditating is sexy. Bossy is also sexy in her meditating getup.
I grab one of my dogs and head out for a walk.
I drink heavily.
Wine, mama- I drink wine
Leela is the coolest game ever made! I have never been a video game fan but this could change it.
Lack of stress may be my stress. Go to a very gentle yoga class once a week. Read. Watch tv while messing around on laptop computer.
Thank you , Bossy.
I over eat sweets AND spend time outside….
Cooking.
Dancing! My most powerful stress reliever is dance.
Netflix or blog surfing on IPad, time with boyfriend, walking the dog, reading, talking to the friends who know me best!
I drink red wine, go on long walks alone, and cuddle with my kids.
Bossy, that’s my minivan! I relax mostly by not driving it.
running or wine
I relieve stress by crying. Yep, I’m “enlightened.” 😉
I read or take a short nap.
When it is really bad, a glass of wine while soaking in a very hot bath.
Wine. And novels. And adequate sleep.
I run for miles and miles and then eat lots of chocolate
I’m lucky enough to live on a horse farm, so if I’ve had a stressful day, I run up to the barn and snuggle with the horses. It always helps (along with some dark chocolate!)
Well, why not?! I could you some calm and centering. Thanks!
If I knew how to relax, I might not be so overwhelmed by the fact that my baby just got married. Every time she comes over, I want to hold on to her as long as I can. How whacked out is this? She lives. Across. The street. From me. And she has for the last year-and-a-half. With her lovely then boyfriend/now husband. And I am happy for her, and so, so sad for me.
I walk away. Or walk out. Which is not always the best choice, but I tried yoga and it didn’t take. So maybe this would if I could figure out how to turn my tv on.
I read. Or take a bath. Or both. Take a walk, go for a run, watch some light TV – anything that allows my brain to focus on one not stressful thing works for me.
In the morning I run..in the evening I guzzle vino. I could use a mid-day stress reliever. This game could be just what I need!
I’m trying to step away from the wine. Sigh. Sitting in the backyard and staring at the trees, birds and watching the dog chase squirrels is deeply relaxing and brings on the chuckles. Laughter might just be the best medicine for me.
I try to relieve stress by taking a moment to drink a cup of tea or a hot bath. Meditation is always a great stress reliever.
Exercise, study and cook with my man. And cuddling.
Yoga, Pilates, cardio dance, Zumba, flexibility and barre classes. Exercising myself to death!
I let myself just zone out for a while. Most of the time my stress comes from having too much going on, so that permission to just be for a little bit is intensely liberating.
A run and some wine (in that order).
I relieve stress by drinking with friends. And laughing. Although I think meditation might be easier on my liver.
You can leave me out of the drawing because I already won something awesome from Bossy, but I had to say Chadd’s Ford! Wyeths! Cool!
Also I should meditate but I tend to eat. This is not helpful behaviour. So I should probably go look at Wii’s and check this out.
By living in Europe.
I walk around aimlessly muttering about how stressed out I am.
I relieve stress by working out. I do CrossFit and a CrossFit/MMA class. I get to hit and punch and kick in the MMA class and I love it. I’m also trying to become a runner. I’m kicking and screaming on that part, though, which is not really an effective way to run.
I eat, drink and sleep.
eating worked for a while, then some medication, now stressing over fatness…..next might be drinking, and then…..
My new favorite way to relax is knitting! I’m not great at it, but I sure enjoy it!
I destress by watching one of the first few harry potter movies, or cleaning the house – clear counters, put together couches, and clean floors make me relaxed.
i relax by reading in a big ole rocking chair with some yago!
Currently, yoga and deep breathing. 🙂
going on long scenic drives while listening to soothing music helps me slow down and re-focus.
between work and picking up my 4y.o. from babysitters, I park my car in a relatively scenic parking lot and stare at the clouds. Best five minutes I afford myself every time.
I currently destress by reading a lot, hot baths, and sometimes margaritas.
I watch self-hypnosis videos on YouTube. Maybe someday it will work.
I relieve stress by snuggling with my three-month-old granddaughter while she sleeps. Otherwise, I take a 15-minute nap almost every day and I eat lots of chocolate.
I tweeted about this giveaway at http://twitter.com/#!/Rheticula .
I de-stress by reading blogs 🙂 I always cross my fingers that Bossy has posted an update!
I love your blog and my kids want a WII this Christmas….Pick me! Pick me!
Listening to audiobooks on my phone while taking a walk. Especially audiobooks about meditation!
I relieve stress by taking dance classes and long walks on Sundays 🙂
tweeted http://twitter.com/#!/DeeGee13/status/135640675097120768 thanks for the chance!
Bossy – Are you OK? That post felt a little sadder than usual. Not that your awesome humor and bright light don’t shine through….
I relieve stress by doing handwork. Embroidery, cross stitch, small stuffed objects, sometimes knitting or crocheting.
Yoga has worked for me in the past! I think I need to start doing it or something like what you’ve described here–I’ve been awfully tense and crabby lately!
Thanks also for a chance to win!
kmassmanATgmailDOTcom
walking and praying, usually simultaneously
Yoga or old episodes of Arrested Development.
Depends on the season. Summer months: I run. Long and hard. Preferably in the desert among the rock formations and scenery.
Winter months, when my cold-induced asthma drives me indoors, I drink hot tea, and push whatever is stressing me out to the back of my mind so I don’t have to think about it. Perhaps not as effective as I’d like, but the tea is great!
My greatest stress relief comes in the form of my two dogs. Walking, playing, chasing, whatever…
I don’t really have a way to relax, which is why this game is intriguing to me. If I had to choose something, for fear of being disqualified from this giveaway, I’d say I relax by browsing Pinterest or by reading two sentences of a book before I fall asleep.
My husband and my kids and my puppies. I try to spend one day a week doing minimal running around just to spend time with everyone.
Also, running on the treadmill really fast until I can’t run anymore helps a lot too. When you’re out of breath you don’t think about much more than “omg, I’m going to die!”
This game sounds much more relaxing and fun though. 🙂 I’d like to give it a try!
Relax? What’s that?
Walking with dogs, it is sort of like dancing with wolves, but much safer.
How do I relax? Yoga works and so does meditation. The problem? I do not seem to make time to actually do these things very often.
mmm, deep dark chocolate…
Yes, chocolate does it for me. Deep, dark, light, Snicker’s bar, who cares?
read a book…
I tried to release stress by setting “me” time for myself each day, even just 10 to 15 minutes. It’s a good way to unwind, plan for the future…or just day dream about the next vacation. 🙂
amy [at] utry [dot] it
I drink like a fish.
Wine and yoga. And not in that order.
Life has been so terribly stressful, I havent really been doing much- but I sure need to. Yoga and walking
I knit or cuddle my baby – mostly baby cuddling these days, as he doesn’t allow much knitting. (He’s so selfish)
I’m not even entering. I just think you are so funny. You and your family and your Deep Dark Delicious Chopra.
I visit my acupuncturist/ massage therapist, for an hour of needles and massage and meditation, and at the end, my chi thanks me, my inner self is calm, and I feel I am right with the universe again. 🙂

I crochet and cry.
To relieve stress, I bake cookies. Lots of them. Then, to pre-empt any upcoming stress, I eat the cookies. Stressbusters, is what they are.
read blogs, read a book, facebook, get outside.
I walk and listen to Pema Chodron who has a voice that makes me want to hug every single person I come in contact with – much to the dismay of my neighbors who just want to put out their garbage or collect their newspapers in peace!
I workout and molest my husband.
relieve stress? i dont have an answer. i just try to muscle thru it which is no plan at all and probably makes things worse.
sigh.
I participate in every wellness program I can at my workplace: lunch hour Monday & Friday aerobics, Wednesday yoga, and Zumba at the end of the day on Thursdays.
If I were to win, I would share this with my cousin who is rife with anxiety issues.
I cope with stress via wine, reading escapist fiction, and the occasional massage. Also, calling my oldest friend and kvetching.
Workout.
And sleep.
I drink lots of wine. It doesn’t necessarily relieve the stress, but at least it makes me forget about it temporarily.
To relieve stress I usually make art or vomit. Not allways in that order, this might really help me!!
I have a four-month old baby and work full time, so my relaxation consists of trying to get to bed at a decent time. Oh yeah, and Chicken McNuggets.
Exercise. 4 mornings a week keeps most of the stress at bay.
I paint, draw or go for a bike ride. Nothing like fresh air to clear the head space.
I knit. I should walk because I need more exercise but for not it’s knitting.
I relax by listening to music I love and singing at the top of my lungs. Also, a drink with friends never hurts.
YOGA – but this sounds even better. Will you show this Grandma how to set up the Wii when I win it? Thanks.
I use the drive time between activites to relax. That is pretty much it.
I do yoga to relieve stress
A glass of wine and a quiet place to think.
I vacuum the entire place!! hahaha
I don’t know how relaxing it is, but my twice-weekly two-hour workouts with an awesome trainer sure do clear the mind for that amount of time. Whatever was annoying me when I went in isn’t as important when I drag myself out again.
When my dog, Emily, died in 2009 it took me about 4 months to realize that my brain was melting. I melted down pretty spectacularly when she died so it’s understandable that the long term version might go unnoticed. I finally figured out that my meditation time had been my dog walking. I never wore headphones and I rarely talked on the phone when I walked her and I let her decide where we’d go so it was basically just 30 minutes of letting my mind do its own thing. Without her I wasn’t walking or slowing down or dealing at all so I had to figure out where to find that time on purpose. Now I have Eddie, he’s a smaller, peppier, higher maintenance dog but I’m getting my meditation groove back on, albeit in smaller chunks.
I tweeted about the giveaway, too. Because I love Twitter.
Video games, takes my mind away from reality. So I am fairly close to this . .
Laughter, wine, sex. Life is good!
I like to go for a long walk around our neighborhood. I really find that I feel much less stressed after a long walk. Thanks so much.

I eat. Too much. It doesn’t work. Still stressed. And overweight!
Alcohol and a good book!
Sex always relieves my stress but not always available so I will go with bubble bath.
kport207 at gmail dot com
I relax by taking a long bubble bath.
austma7@aol.com
I relieve stress by fretting over it for way longer than necessary. And eating. Eating more than necessary.
I take a nap. But in my dreams I’m doing yoga.
Long walks
wine or other alcohol. I used to exercise daily but haven’t lately. really need to get back on that routine! The wine and lack of exercise are beginning to show! 🙂
I relieve stress with a hot bath, a glass of wine and a good book.

moving my body or mouth or watching someone move theirs… i.e. talking to friends, exercise, dance, walk, yoga, chewing gum (back to mouth), eating (not so much but some), drinking coffee (mouth again), lying on couch and watching movies (last category). sometimes meditating.
but that game would help!
I take a break and read for a while.
…about an hour in a steamy hot bath;a glass of wine punch on the rocks and a good book
I relieve stress by meditating and just putting on candles.. giant_gummi_bear@yahoo.com

Reading by the fire . And Wine
I relieve stress just like any normal working mother of an 18 year old and a 3.5 year old with SO MUCH attitude, the 3.5 year old not the 18 year old, by pulling my hair out, screaming at the kids, the cats, the dog and my husband. That is normal right? That is what the game will help me with? And who is the “crazy lady” that posted she has time for sex? That is just foolishness. 😉 Just kidding whoever you were.
I relieve stress by exercising, taking the time to talk with friends & also my getting a little “me” time.

cook and eat. I can’t say I have a healthy relationship with food.
I relieve stress by spending time with just myself and nature. Nothing is more therapeutic!

my favorite way to find peace and relieve stress is to give my mind ‘quiet time’ without interruption, just to mellow out.
listen to music
I take the puppy for a slow, extended walk.
single mom of three relieves stress by sleeping. whenever and wherever I can get it. or wine. wine works.
I’ve found the best way to relieve stress is to receive a giant bear hug from my husband. I just feel the stress and anxiety melt away.
Mmmmm Dark Chocolate. My stress relief is either screaming at the top of my lungs or laying on the floor letting the dogs go crazy licking my face. And stepping on my hair.
I go ballroom or salsa dancing. Really!
Cleaning vigorously. Followed by wine.
Double stuf oreos and a nap. In that order.
My girlfriend brings me peace of mind. I’ll also be honest and say that marijuana relaxes me like no other.
I stay relaxed and stress-free by keeping calm no matter what the situation.
I currently relieve stress by letting it all out on the tennis court – no matter how bad a day I’m having, clearing my mind and just focusing on hitting the ball for an hour or two somehow always makes me think a lot more positively and optimistically afterward!

I eat, read, eat, walk, and sometimes I just cry.
This may sound weird, but making lists relieves a lot of stress for me. When my mind starts spinning with “too much — I’ll never get it all done” writing it all down and organizing the plan really helps. Nice give-away, Bossy & Deepak 🙂
I love the part about “let us take your picture”. Brilliant! For stress relief I drink a cold beer and watch an episode of Bones on Netflix.

Reading about faraway places with soft music playing in the background.
A long soak in the whirpool tub.
Wine & relaxing!
I go to my dojo and hit and kick things! Amazing how that helps!
There’s a big guy at work who lets me choke him whenever I need stress relief. He has a very strong neck, lucky for me.
Organizing something helps (weird, i know).
I lay in bed and pray to Jesus.
Bud light and deep dark chocolate. Together of course.
After many years of trying to eat myself to death I have finally give up and started hitting a tennis ball against a wall. It brings me great joy to knock the fuzzy little ball as hard as I can and watch it come flying back each and every time. Simple pleasure for simple people.
Well…. currently my very best stress relief comes from deep belly laughs and cutting up with my girlfriends… while consuming large quantities of adult beverages. I would welcome stress relief in a different adult form if you get what I mean. wink wink. 😉
I play on my guitar for a good while and calm down!

The standard: wine, chocolate and late night web surfing.
In order to relieve stress and recharge my batteries, I treat myself to a spa day once a month. I get the whole body treatment, manicure, pedicure, facial, massage, etc. They even serve me a healthly and delicious lunch. When I am finished, I feel fresh and ready to face the world again. My spa days are definitely a necessity in my live.

i relieve stress by taking walks
Yoga! Meditation! Wine!
I relieve stress by listening to music
I am a hospice nurse, so relaxation is important to be able to really hear what patients and family need. I relax by lying down and listening to an audio book in a dim room. I can avoid stress and just be in a quiet moment during that time.
Deep breathing, meditation, animal therapy, anti-consumerism, being vegan, herbal tea, Vit D
Relaxing music and lavender candles
I mindlessly browse the internet 🙂
Walk the dog.
walking or a roll in the hay with my husband always helps.
Wine and bitching. Could use some meditation and energy grabbing.
I relax by crashing on the couch like I’m in a coma.
I currently relieve stress by taking a long hot shower
I exercise to relieve stress.
I have been going to the gym, which makes me wonder why I stopped working out for so long. It’s such a huge, obvious difference in how you feel when you work out vs. being a lump. Sheesh. Ack. Argggh.
I try to pray on whatever is stressing me out.

Well, unfortunately, I didn’t do enough of the stress-relieving stretching, hot water bath taking and chocolate eating that I should have been doing, because now my extreme stress has popped out on the corner of my lip. Yuck. And I work at an elementary school and how fun was that! to watch the kids eyes stray constantly to the corner of my actual face, while Mount Vesuvius quickly grew there today.
for me is relaxation, walks and meditation

I hang out with my spastic dog Xyla. She is love and play and just wants attention. It helps to turn my attention from the stress in my life to the love and freedom in hers.
Miss Bossy! Where are you? Let us know that you are okay.
Ditto what MariaV said. 🙂
I ignore it until I wake up one morning realizing that my whole brain and head hurt thanks to the grinding of teeth all night long! Then I ignore it more.
Cigarettes, Chocolate, playing mind numbing games on the computer. To cheer myself up I look up videos of Pepe the prawn from the Muppets…try it! It’ll make you laugh!
Um….Bossy where are you??
Watch my 2 year old son play and laugh. Makes you forget all of your cares in the world 🙂

If I have to relieve stress I listen to trance music. Its so awesome and uplifting. Everyone should listen to trance music! I recommend Armin Van Buurens music if you need to know a name.
Boss,
I hope you are feeling better these days and are maybe taking some of this advice. Starting to worry about you some.
walking wih out kids
I read blogs, drink hot tea and nap … I expect meditation might be more productive.
I relieve stress by hanging out with my friends and taking a walk. Dancing is great too!
Singing and dancing and cooking if I can get everyone else out of the house – it is only relaxing if I can cook alone. (Does that sound weird to you?)
watch lots of inane television.
I bitch and drink wine with my friends/family! That’s a stress reliever! 🙂
I read or drive. I totally need the help from Deepak Chopra – my stress level is through the roof lately and no amount of books is helping! Thanks for the opportunity, Bossy!
Long hikes in the woods. And chocolate in all forms!
Swimming. And sex. But not together.
I go listen to the Sound of Music soundtrack in my blanket-fort. But now that I’ve found the Wonder Years on netflix, I’ll probably turn to Kevin Arnold.
Wine… great stress reliever.
I have a great husband, and he allows me to have my own time and space. He takes the boys out sometimes for the entire day and I find a lot of solace working in the peace of my garden during that time.
First response is find comfort food – chocolate, fries, anything I usually don’t allow myself much of. Second is talk to a good friend – talk it out, get their perspective, etc. Third – shop … it makes me happy. If I was a drinker, I’d be dangerous 🙂
I relieve stress by going for a walk by myself.

I relax by boxing!
Whenever I just sit down, zone out and spend time with my cats, I feel so at ease. The sound of their purring is so soothing and lulls me into a peaceful state. Sounds silly, but it’s so true!
I take a lot of hot baths
Reading relaxes me
I relax by listening to heavy metal music ( I know it’s weird, but that helps me to get my stress out making it easier to relax afterwards), and then I either watch TV, read a book, or play games online.
I destress by taking a hot bubble bath and a glass of wine
I find peace in many random things – sewing, crafting, watching my son sleep… and would love to add Dr. Chopra’s latest along with a Wii to the list!
I relieve stress by eating, spending time with friends and playing video games!
I relieve stress by taking an hour a day to reading either a book, newspaper or something. I turn off the TV, computer etc and just focus on my reading.
You mean without ALCOHOL? Just kidding. Really! I have a problem with stress but have learned when being taken to the knees with illness years ago, to try not to sweat the small stuff. I had to learn to let things go by not allowing that type A personality to surface. Lately, my stress could not be more present, with a new baby grand daughter who lives-in with her mommy, with tween and teen schedules and doc appointments. With another daughter, we are on a daily mission to will her tiny 11 week premature infant to strength and non assisted help…so he can come home. I guess the stress is still there but you learn to tone it down by reflecting WHAT is really important in your life and how to tune out or at least work with the bad. I also find myself whispering prayers throughout the day. Well, some of them are not whispers but a hardy GOD, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD>>> A little HELP down here please? LOL!

I watch a lot of reality tv. Or the Food Network and then I cook. And on the healthier side, yoga and running help, but I must say that when I’m stressed it takes a lot for me to force myself to do these… But it’s probably the best result.

I sit on my back porch and watch the deer in the field and try to remember to breathe.
I don’t have any one set way that I find balance and peace. But, so much of it just involves slowing down long enough to take a deep breath or two. My morning shower is some of my only “me time” of the day. I stock it with yummy smelling shower gels and try to wake up a few minutes early so that I can not rush through it…to take a few refocusing deep breaths before I start my day. It’s a great time to think about the day ahead and put things into perspective.

Unfortunately I spend a lot of time in my car. When I find myself really freaked out I will use this alone car time to do a pseudo meditation. Eyes open, repeating the Ahm and Om for request and thanks. Clearing all else from my mind. It helps me destress. Otherwise, it’s a cup of hot peppermint tea in a darkened bathroom–not as helpful.
I get a massage every other week and go swimming 3 times a week.
Thanks for the contest.

chocolate, plenty of it. The fuzzy warm feeling and head rush I get when I eat chocolate makes me happy. I am stressed a lot, thus I eat lots of chocolate. Now I need to use a Wii exercise plan to work off the effects of said chocolate. The best way I have found to handle stress is by practicing snuggle therapy. Seriously! Snuggling with my hubby and 7 fur babies (read house cats) by candle light or the light of our DVD fireplace is so wonderful. It is truly amazing how healing it can be! I relieve stress by having play time with my daughter. I like to lay in the floor of her room with her toys spread around and watch her play. She is 15 months old and loves to point to parts of my face and different things around her room and ask, “What dat?”.. For example last night I closed my eyes and she very gently touched my eye-lashes and asked her favorite question, “What’s dat?”. It is absolutely impossible to worry about anything in the world when you are teaching your child about the smallest details of the world around her.

I relieve (or used to before having a child!) stress by taking bubble baths that lasted for hours. Now I am lucky to get a 5 minute shower with out being interrupted. I do try to steal away for a relaxing massage twice a year or so.

A long, hot shower is great for stress and chronic pain.
what do I do to relieve stress?? first, shut off all electronics, except for the dvd player, into which you should put some meditating and relaxing music… with no words, just soft, gentle music… I have a couple “by the sea” dvds.. which is very calming…. just closing your eyes and taking deep breaths…imagining you are at the seaside. Then its off to a hot shower, as hot as you can stand it, followed by a minute of ice cold, then back to hot again… this will first relax you, then quicken you energy wise. All the while you have had a pot of peppermint, lemon ginger tea steeping. After putting on some loose fitting lounge-wear, I snuggle up in the bed, sitting up but with a wrapped fuzzy throw around my shoulders, sipping the tea,, and just relaxing!
