OK, it’s not a van. And maybe there’s no river. But the simple truth is Bossy has been living out of a car for the past four weeks during her 12,000-mile (No) Book Tour — and that car contains everything Bossy needs in life. Minus a bathroom. And perfect curtains. And a center-hall colonial with an industrial stove and wraparound front porch overlooking the dunes overlooking the ocean overlooking the world.
In a very real sense, Bossy’s sponsored car is a mobile home since she spends an average of eight hours a day driving. So let’s take a tour of (Harrison) Ford, shall we?
First we come to Bossy’s office, which is convenient since Bossy works from home, where home equals 12,000 miles from home.
In Bossy’s office you’ll find a notebook written in Bossy’s longhand, containing brilliant career-altering ideas like shjdkro djdirjnd smskrrm. Curses carpal tunnel syndrome! You’ll also find an old-fashioned map, and next to it a vanity cabinet dressed as a makeup bag containing things like Bossy’s spackle foundation.
Bossy’s office is also the location of her various power cords, chargers, headphones, additional notebooks, more notebooks, and a manilla envelope full of Bossy’s receipts.
Next up is Bossy’s front hall closet and library:
As you can see, Bossy’s front hall closet and library is where Bossy keeps several of her jackets because sister mercy hot desert one day and snowy donner’s pass the next. You’ll also find a few books Bossy has collected along the way, written by fellow bloggers who are crazy enough to think book tours are about books! So funny!
Bossy’s front closet also doubles as a linen closet, and is where she stores her sleeping bag and pillows for her afternoon naps in the backseat.
Next let’s visit the trunk area which is home to Bossy’s shoe closet:
Pictured are Bossy’s boots and Bossy’s flats, and together they represent the entire food pyramid. Next is Bossy’s medicine cabinet:
Here you’ll find items such as Motrin and hand cream and products that rhyme with Sampax.
And of course every good house needs a laundry room:
Next we come to Bossy’s kitchen:
And finally, every kitchen needs a decent pantry:
In other news, Bossy would like to announce the three winners of her Seattle’s Best Coffee giveaway: Congratulations Golden and P.J. and Julie! And thanks to everyone for playing along. More to come.
i thought they were called “vanilla envelopes” too for a very, very long time.
Funny Bossy. How many kms under the belt so far? (Translation – how many miles on the speedometer?) I do feel for thee… how many days til you see home again? And the joyous bouncy woof of a Great Dane greeting?
Travel safe.

BB
PS When Bossy gets unpacked, and recovers, she might consider planning an Oz road-trip next year? We got lots and lots of roads down here… and even the occasional blogger!

Don’t fall asleep in the front seat with the keys in the ignition ’cause they might think you’ve passed out.
I want to know what the little red and white lunch box is all about in the trunk. It is CUTE and I might want it. I might also have a slight obsession with all boxes and items that can contain other things. The first step is acknowledging you have a problem.
–>My butt hurts thinking about riding that much in a car. Maybe for Bossy’s next tour she should get a CB and converse with the truckers who can feel her pain (in the ass).
Wait. You know what I mean.

Orbit Bubblemint in the console! I knew we had things in common, but this is beyond coincidence.
Next time, perhaps you should ask Winnebago to be your sponsor.
vanilla envelopes, chester drawers and sopopers.
I have no pride left. It’s a wonder I can function. Also.. the Beatles, “Paperback Writer” = Take the Back Right Turn. Sung VERY loud. Yep again… no pride
Yup, Vanilla! I distinctly remember smelling the envelopes and being disappointed they just smelled like PAPER. (Which is one of my favorite smells now) My mother corrected me and didn’t laugh TOO hard, which was lovely of her….
I SO enjoyed dinner last night!
Pringles are the ultimate road necessity.
Yeah, but I am sort of partial to those almonds right next to the Pringles.
Thanks Bossy
I would buy that car just for the clothesline!
Can you tell us again WHY you’re doing this? You make it sound so terrible in every post all living on the road and “gah”.. so WHY? I can’t imagine any dollar amount or bit of fame on a blog site would make me want to go through that kind of hell. I’m so curious why you started all this???
but to each their own. I guess.
Mia, I have a theory after having met BOSSY: she’s a great bringing-people-together person, which probably has a name but hellifIknow. She’s a leader, a crusader, a doer. That’s what I think after meeting BOSSY.
Before meeting BOSSY I just thought she was nuts.
Love the paper map. Paper maps make a trip real.
except for the clothesline, I am embarrassed to say that my car looks like that most of the time, and I’ve never been on a (No) Book Tour! drive safe, Bossy! an oh yea, your new husband is a cutie!
It was great meeting you, Bossy! Your car looks very cozy! Happy Trails.
I thought it was vanilla envelope for a very very long time too Bossy.
You do know that they make Multigrain Pringles now? Oh so much healthier! LOL. Or at least when people look into Harrison’s window it looks like you are eating healthier!
Gosh…is Bossy making it sound terrible?
I don’t think so at all…just challenges and deadlines (challenges) and trying to choose the cutest cameraman (a real challenge.
It all sounds so yummy.
There is only one reason Bossy made this road trip and that’s to accumulate more husbands. Thankfully no additional ones are mentioned in this post unless you want to count the clothesline, the Shaggy Apple dress or the Sampax.
And we all know there’s nothing husband-like about Sampax. Or is there…
Sorry, that was gross.
Hi, Bossy’s Mom! I’m really only half as gross as some of my comments, but probably slightly more crazy.
When are you and Bossy and Bossy’s Daughter making a road trip south?
And of course I spoke too soon. Just read about the new cameraman and am already planning our honeymoon.
Whatevs. My car looks like that every day and I ain’t on a (NO) Book tour.
Bossy is so brave. Seriously. I really admire your spirit of adventure–especially your ability to do this alone.
I totally heart Bossy’s travelling home! And Bossy is, of course, concerned about the environment so she is using the 2/65 dryer that her home came equipped with to dry her laundry and her hair: open 2 windows and drive 65mph! (Hmmm, wonder what other drivers must think if Bossy’s unmentionables go flying down the roadway?)
Bossy, you make it all sound like a blast and next time (!) we should all just caravan with you from stop to stop picking people up as you travel along. You know, like Forest Gump did as he ran.
please do not deprive us of a book, daily journal style……you and Jami Ward rock ! sincerely, Jodie
