Just Who Doesn’t Need Bossy’s Daughter For All Of Life’s Instructions?
Sadly enough, after an entire year of living with the internet/television service Fios, Bossy’s daughter finally gave up on Bossy and drew this schematic to help Bossy, you know, turn the TV on.
We used to have to do that for my MIL, too, whenever she babysat. Then I bought my husband a mac-daddy universal remote control he’d been wanting for his birthday and we just push one button to turn everything on. It’s beautiful.
–>God bless Bossy’s daughter. We got Fios three months ago and I still don’t know any of the channels except the one for cartoons at 6 a.m. for my son.
Dear Bossy’s Daughter,
Would you please explain STB to me?
Thanks very much, p.j.
p.s. We shared a hotel room in Chicago this summer with 2 remotes, a flat screen TV, a keyboard, a box, and multiple blinking lights. Despite discussions with the front desk staff, we could not prevent the TV from suddenly shutting down or, even worse, popping on at 3 a.m. And trying to change channels, argh.
Bossy, Don’t feel bad about not knowing how to turn the tv on. I work at a nursing home. Sometimes, when I go into a residents room they will ask me to turn the tv off. I grab the remotes and just stand there. 1 remote does this and the other does that. If you touch the wrong button you mess the whole tv up. It’s embarrassing to be told by a 90 year old how to turn the tv off.
I would like to borrow Bossy’s daughter. I obviously need a similar type of visual aid to enable me to deal with the TV/satellite/DVR combo in my home.
That is completely adorable. Does she do freelance work? I would like to request a diagram for my husband RE: how to put dirty laundry in a hamper.
As for the TV, I just ask the 8 yr old to set it up for me…. one day, when he gets a life, I will remember this & request he make me a similar schematic.
Bossy’s daughter needs to help the Mister. He’s inept with all things technical including the remote. The man will never be able to PIP! The boys and I are constantly rolling our eyes at him. At least your daughter drew you a schematic (maybe while she was rolling her eyes?)!
I think Bossy’s daughter would be a welcome addition to the royal household in England. I heard recently that Prince Philip has alot of trouble recording things on the telly. Bet Bossy’s daughter wouldn’t have to get out the flashlight like the Prince does…
Why does Prince Philip need a flashlight to record things on the telly?
I just made three-part instructions for the TV in our guest room: first, this remote, this button. Then you… this remote, this button. Finally, you that other remote, that button. then you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about = there you go!
I still haven’t managed to get my lazy a$@ to the store to buy aTV that works with the digital conversion last spring. I currently get one station, in Spanish, from Mexico, that is todo televangelismo, todo el tiempo.
I had that FIOS controller too. What the hell? WHY ARE THERE SO MANY BUTTONZ?! I am most amused/annoyed about the multi-colored, multi-shaped A, B, C & D buttons. WHAT POSSIBLY COULD BE THEIR FUNCTION?! Pissed. Off.
As an aside, could you ask the Legos people to lower the sensitivity of their ad? I can’t navigate without it POPPING UP all the time…AND STAYING UP. Wait, I can think of a use for that……
#30 Sugarpie, you made me spill a little of my beer, laughing. Pre-cable, we *sorta* got 5 antenna channels. Three of them were God channels. One in Spanish. It was a bleak time.
When my mother would come visit for a week I would have to set the remote for “normal” for her. I just turned off the digital cable and she was content with the regular cable channels. Left her a list of her favorites. Her small town had used cable for many years, included in utility bills because the media outlets were east and west and Frankfort in a valley.
Every once in a while she would have to call me to fix it. Fortunately my office was only a few minutes from the house. Little things. Bossy’s daughter is handy. She will forever be able to bridge the gap for you.
I’ll never forget the night at my daughter’s house, sil on hunting trip with his cousins, when we had four remotes but were missing the fifth we needed to actually watch the dvd we wanted to see. Laughter worked.
